Technologist’s Association of Panvel (TAP) is an association of technical people of different disciplines working in Panvel. In July 2005-flood disaster, Panvel experienced huge losses in terms of human life and property, which could have reduced to some extent, had communication system been remained live? From this incidence TAP realized the importance of communication during any disastrous condition where mobile/ landlines fail, and association decided to promote HAM Communication.
TAP conducted classes for HAM operations. As of now 8 SWLs are waiting for their Grade-I licenses in Panvel. As a continuous effort towards HAM awareness program, TAP participated in Panvel Festival 2008 organized by Rotary Club from 20 to 28th December.
On 20th December, 2008 “Colonel” Dilip Vengerkar inaugurated the festival. VU2NXM,OM Basappaji, VU2BOT, OM Aditya Sawant, SWL Pralhad Bodke, TAP President Shri. Dilip Subhedar was present on the opening day. From 25th to 28th December, 2008 the program was carried forward by VU2OUR,OM Vivek Dashputre, VU2WAG,OM Shankar Waghmale, SWLs Suresh Risbud, Pralhad Bodke, Anand Gokhale, Prof. Ranade. On last day VU2TOO,OM Rohit Purohit obliged TAP by his valuable presence. Around 40-50 persons showed keen interest in HAM operation during the festival. They were shown demonstration of HAM communication. On last day demo of communication between HAMs was also given with the help of VU2WSM,OM Satheesh QTH Dombivli, VU2NP,OM Dossu QTH Churchgate, VU3SLJ,OM Kamath QTH Ghatkopar.
All these HAMs appreciated TAP for their activity, HAM Awareness.TAP is thankful to all HAM’s who helped this program by actually participating in a QSO. Special thanks to VU2NXM,VU2WAG & especially VU2TOO for their active participation & valuable guidance.
