Designing 4S7SV QSL card :

May be more than one year ago I had a QSO with 4S7SV, OM Samith on 20m band. After that I had frequent QSO's with him regularly on the same band. Last week when I was chatting with Samith on internet he asked me if I can design his QSL card. In return I told him that I will be more than happy to do it. I would like to share it with you all guys. Thanks to amateur radio hobby that I got a DX friend like Samith.

Floods - 2009 Mumbai :

Floods in Mumbai are attributable to simultaneous occurrence of rainfall and high tides. If the rainfall is in excess of 200 mm in a day (24 hrs) the floods can occur anytime irrespective of the tides. However, if there is moderate rainfall but the tides are in excess of 4.50 meters at the same time, the city of Mumbai is sure to get flooded.

Accordingly, heavy floods are anticipated on the following days in Mumbai, if there is excessive rainfall at the time of high tides, since the tides are extremely high on these days: -

(Click on the image to view)

BMC has already planned to keep the schools closed on 24 July 2009 since the tide level is going to be a record high of last 100 years on this day.

Mumbaikars are, therefore, requested to cooperate with the administration by restricting their movements and certainly not to take their vehicles out on the roads on these days.

Also, please advise your friends and relatives outside Mumbai not to plan a trip to Mumbai on these days.

Pre-warning helps one to be prepared for emergencies. Emergency Preparedness helps in preventing personal disasters. Be prepared to take care of your family, especially the children.

Kindly dissipate the Flood Warning given here to as many Mumbaites, Navi Mumbaites and Thaneites as possible.

Field Day at Nandi Hills :

BARC Golden Jubilee Field Day at Nandi Hills : 27 & 28 June 2009

Nandi Hills or Nandidurg is a hill fortress of southern India, in the Chikkaballapur district of Karnataka state and was one of the summer retreats of Tippu Sultan. It is located just 16 km (till base) 24 km (top of the hill) from Chickballapur town and approximately 60 km from the city of Bangalore. It is 4851 ft. (1478 meters) above sea level. It is located in close proximity to the newly constructed Bangalore International Airport. Nandi Hills was popular with the British too, who built bungalows and laid out gardens here. Today of course, it is a hot favourite among Bangaloreans who find this an ideal get-away for weekends.

Hamfest India 2009 & Bangalore Amateur Radio Club (VU2ARC) have organised a Field Day at this location on 27 & 28 June 2009 to mark the Golden Jubilee Year of BARC.

Hams are encouraged to bring in their own equipment / stations to operate from the field day location. This is an ideal location for VHF hill-topping. Stations with beam antennas can try working long distance stations across south India from here.
