The Amateur is considerate -- S/he never knowingly uses the air in such a way as to lessen the pleasure of others.

The Amateur is
loyal -- S/he offers loyalty, encouragement and support to all radio amateurs, local radio club, and to the American Radio Relay League, through which Amateur Radio is represented.

The Amateur is
progressive -- keeping the Amateur's station abreast of science; the station is well-built and efficient; operating practice is always above reproach.

The Amateur is
friendly -- slow and patient sending when requested, friendly advice and counsel to the beginner, kindly assistance, cooperation and consideration for the interests of others; these are marks of the amateur spirit.
